UPDATED AUGUST 2016

ABOUT OUR GICLEE PRINTS

WHAT IS GICLEE?

A giclee (In French: “fine spray”) print is a method of reproducing a scanned digital image of original art using a process similar to current ink jet printers.

LIMITED EDITION

A Limited Edition is a finite print-run of a particular artWork. Once an edition sells out, it will no longer be available, and as such, may become a collectable.

OUR IMAGES AND PRINTING PROCESS

The images used in our Limited Edition Giclee Prints are derived from published and award-winning illustrations by Patricia Raine, featured on the website.

All of our Giclee Prints are made-to-order on an Epson Stylus Pro 9600 printer using archival, pigmented Epson Ultrachrome Inks. They are printed on Fine Art Epson Enhanced Matte — a smooth, archival, medium-white paper, ideal for reproducing the subtleties of brushwork and media inherent in the original work of art.

Each print is thoroughly inspected and signed by Patricia Raine in the lower right corner, under the image. All of our prints are archival to 100+ years.

COPYRIGHT

The copyright of all print images (right to publish) is owned by Patricia C. Raine.

The purchaser, though he or she owns the physical print, may NOT copy, re-publish, reprint or use the print image for any purpose whatsoever — other than wall display — even if that use is non- commercial, non-profit, for education or for private use. Please contact us at support@patriciaraineillustration.com if you have any questions or wish to obtain permission for a minor use of the image.

PLEASE NOTE:

As stated in our Terms of Use, every effort is made to represent the colors and proportions (scaled down) of each print accurately online. However, since the colors you see on your screen depend solely on your device settings, we cannot guarantee an identical match between screen images and prints on paper. Be assured that the print itself is a nearly 100% accurate reproduction of the original art.

HANDLING AND CARE OF YOUR GICLEE PRINT

REMOVE ALL TAPE THAT WAS USED FOR PACKAGING

Small pieces of tape can find their way to the surface of the plastic sleeve or print and cause damage.

CAREFULLY REMOVE THE PRINT FROM THE TUBE

Start by removing the top endcap by steadily but firmly lifting it, using the ‘lip’ of the cap. You may have to use a small set oF plyers for this task since the endcap is tightly secured to the tube to ensure safe transit.

When opened, remove the soft packing material and gently lift the soft-tied end of the archival plastic sleeve to pull the print out.

Your Certificate of Authenticity and Information Piece will be near the top in a separate plastic sleeve next to the tube wall — outside the archival sleeve.

HANDLE THE PRINT BY ITS EDGES ONLY

If you can, wear clean white cotton gloves. The oils from your hands can affect the PH of the paper and reduce the archival qualities. Fingerprints on dark areas show up as sheen

SUPPORT THE PRINT WITH TWO HANDS

It will bend, otherwise. A crease in the print is permanent.

DO NOT USE HANDS TO WIPE OFF DUST

Any rubbing can scratch the surface and compromise the fine art paper. Use canned air gently and always keep the can upright so no freon leaks out.

KEEP MOISTURE/ CONDENSATION AWAY FROM THE PRINT

Although the ink is somewhat water resistant, water can still cause damage. A water drop on the print surface will be permanently visible when dry.

ALLOW THE PRINT TO ‘BREATHE’ FOR A FEW DAYS

This allows for any minor outgassing of the inks and also lets them completely set before framing.

USE ONLY ARCHIVAL MATERIALS WHEN FRAMING

USE COMMON SENSE

Storing or exhibiting a print in bright sunlight, or in a setting that might have chemical outgassing (from freshly painted walls, new rugs and other fumes) may cause fading or discoloration to the print. Do not use the cardboard tubing for long-term storage of the print — it is not archival. However, the plastic sleeves we use are archival. Tubes can be re-used or re-cycled.
